Meet Tim

"Donating plasma was a good way to help other people and earn extra money at the same time.”

When you donate plasma for five years, you meet a lot of different people. Tim Gaines is a donor who enjoys donating at the CSL Plasma location in Lawrence, Kansas and many of the employees and donors there are more like good friends.

In fact, one of the things he most enjoys about coming to the center is seeing all the people he knows. Tim notes, “I’ve made a lot of connections with other donors and they’re my friends now too. It’s like a big happy family here. Everyone knows your name.”

It was also a friend of Tim’s who first encouraged him to donate plasma. He explains, “I had a good friend who was a donor for a long time at the Lawrence center and she convinced me that donating plasma was a good way to help other people and earn extra money at the same time.”

Tim says if he could tell someone about the importance of donating plasma he would stress that plasma saves lives and it all starts at the center. Plasma is collected and later made into life-saving therapies. “It’s an important part of what we do here at CSL Plasma,” he concludes.

Tim works two jobs and says he doesn’t have much time for hobbies. However, when he can get away, he enjoys fishing and has a cabin. Center Manager Amy Jackson adds “Tim is a proud grandfather and one of many happy donors here in Lawrence. He’s told me he believes he is doing someone good and perhaps changing a life or two for the better. I’m proud to say that he’s already changed many, many lives by his dedication to donating plasma. He’s a loyal donor who wants to help others in need.”
